MAY 14 | WEST HOLLYWOOD—Upon listening to Langhorne Slim’s new album, Langhorne Slim, one can’t help but conjure up images of Bob Dylan performing his legendary folk music, or Ben Harper slaying with his sharp-as-a-knife vocals and poignantly truthful lyrics. There are even hints of a post-Beatles John Lennon in Langhorne’s raspy voice, as well as a little Mick Jagger in the way he swaggers on stage. All in all though, Langhorne Slim is not another folk-rock wannabe waiting in the rafters for his turn in the spotlight. Instead, Langhorne commands the spotlight, as I witnessed at the Troubadour, where he and his band, the War Eagles, took to the stage. No one would drop the names I mentioned if they didn’t have such a memorable presence.
